DNA Methylation Shapes Seed‐Borne Microbiome and Proteome Responses During Early Maize‐Beneficial Bacteria Interactions

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 8, Page 5477-5496, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Microorganism and plant interactions are crucial for development and environmental adaptation. Plant growth promoting bacteria enhance agricultural productivity in a sustainable manner, while epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation regulate gene expression and adaptive responses.

Locally adapted Arabidopsis thaliana accessions show transcriptomic plasticity in a multi‐timescale analysis of whole‐genome gene expression in a natural environment

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 5, Page 1641-1656, August 2026.
Natural Arabidopsis thaliana accessions showed remarkable plasticity in both life‐cycle phenology and whole‐genome gene expression patterns in in natura field experiments. Nevertheless, local adaptation in fitness‐related life‐history traits can also be detected at the whole‐genome gene expression level.

Step by step: Floral structure and developmental changes to the formation of the gynostegium in Apocynaceae s.l.

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 5, Page 1467-1480, August 2026.
Developmental changes in Apocynaceae s.l. reveal progressive reductions in the corolla tube and epipetaly, together with increased staminal tube formation, highlighting shifts in floral integration associated with gynostegium evolution and organization.

A global review of mistletoe frugivory and seed dispersal: The plant perspective

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 5, Page 1303-1314, August 2026.
We reviewed studies on mistletoe frugivory and seed dispersal worldwide. Although mistletoes are relatively well studied, major taxonomic, geographic, and methodological gaps remain. We conclude that modern technologies offer new opportunities to address long‐standing but still poorly explored questions about these interactions.

Biología floral y sistema reproductivo dePhaseolus vulgaris var. aborigineus (Fabaceae)
