The genus Jatropha (Euphorbiaceae): A review on secondary chemical metabolites and biological aspects.

Chemico-Biological Interactions, 2020
The genus Jatropha belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family and has about 175 species. Originally from tropical America, the Jatropha genus can be found all over the tropics and subtropics of Asia and Africa.

BIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF ANTIANDROGENS

Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1975
Flutamide (α,α,α-trifluoro-2-methyl-4'-nitro-m-propionotoluidide) at daily doses from 1–50 mg/kg reduced seminal vesicle and ventral prostate weights of intact male rats. A comparative study in castrated rats revealed that flutamide was equipotent to cyproterone acetate (CPA) as an antiandrogen.

Phytoecdysteroids: biological aspects

Phytochemistry, 2001
Phytoecdysteroids are a family of about 200 plant steroids related in structure to the invertebrate steroid hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone. Typically, they are C27, C28 or C29 compounds possessing a 14alpha-hydroxy-7-en-6-one chromophore and A/B-cis ring fusion (5beta-H).

MIGRAINE AND DEPRESSION: BIOLOGICAL ASPECTS

Clinical Neuropharmacology, 1992
There is a considerable overlap in migraine and depression incidence, and both conditions may be associated with low levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT). During a migraine attack there is evidence for low levels of platelet 5-HT and possibly also low Vmax for 5-HT uptake; both these findings are also associated with the depressed state.

Biological aspects of chondrosarcoma: Leaps and hurdles.

Critical reviews in oncology/hematology, 2018
Chondrosarcomas are characterized by their chemo- and radioresistance leading to a therapeutic surgical approach which remains the only available treatment with a 10-year survival between 30% and 80% depending on the grade.

Biological Methylation: Selected Aspects

Annual Review of Biochemistry, 1975
Biological methylation is a broad subject that spans two principal areas of metabolism. First is a series of reactions leading to the biosynthesis of methionine (methylation of homocysteine) and then the multitude of reactions that utilize the methyl group of methionine after its activation to S-adenosylmethionine (A-Met).

Biological Aspects of Depression

Psychopathology, 1986
Several neuroendocrine studies with the clonidine-growth hormone stimulation test show endogenous depressive patients to have a reduced GH response as compared to neurotic depressives, schizophrenics and controls. The blunted GH response to clonidine seems to be a trait marker or vulnerability factor for mono- and bipolar endogenous depression.
