Is Parental Mathematics Anxiety Associated with Young Children’s Arithmetical Performance?

open access: yes, 2022
It has been suggested that parental mathematics anxiety may influence their children’s mathematics anxiety, attitudes, and performance. It remains an open question whether these parentchild associations differ by parental sex or parental involvement.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Catechin gallate triggers metabolomic and lipidomic alteration in Toxoplasma gondii

open access: yesParasites & Vectors
Background Toxoplasma gondii is a zoonotic parasite, the causative agent of toxoplasmosis, which has global importance owing to its significant socioeconomic, public health, and veterinary burdens. Toxoplasmosis is currently treated with a combination of

Model Composition for Biological Mathematical Systems

open access: yesProceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development, 2014
Mathematical models are frequently used to model biological process, such as cardiac electrophysiological systems. In order to separate the models from the implementations, and to facilitate curation, domain specific languages (DSLs) have become a popular and effective means of specifying models (Lloyd et al., 2004; Hucka et al., 2004).
