Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

The ultrasonic nonlinearity parameter for biological media

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2015
The nonlinearity parameter B/A of several soft tissues was measured using two independent methods. The B/A values of most soft tissues were found to be between 7 and 8, with the exception of fat which has a B/A value close to 11.

Aspects of Biological Age Assessment and Its Significance in Ophthalmology

open access: yesOftalʹmologiâ
This article explores the key aspects of biological age assessment and the potential of studying this parameter in ophthalmology. Biological age, as an indicator of the state of the organism, differs from chronological age and allows for a more accurate ...

Impact of neem-nanoemulsion and neem petroleum ether extract on some biological parameters of the internal parasitoid, Meteorus gyrator (Thub.) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2020
Background The neem tree, Azadirachta indica, is very promising for the control of many insect pests, where it acting as feeding deterrents, oviposition obstruction and as a growth regulator. Results In this study, both neem extract and neem nanoemulsion

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

On parameter interpretability of phenomenological-based semiphysical models in biology

open access: yesInformatics in Medicine Unlocked, 2019
Empirical and phenomenological-based models are used to represent biological and physiological processes. Phenomenological models are derived from the knowledge of the mechanisms that underlie the behavior of the system under study, while empirical ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.
