Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

A Compact Spin‐Coated Graphene UWB Antenna for Breast Tumor Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A compact, spin‐coated graphene ultra‐wideband patch antenna designed for breast tumor detection, capable of distinguishing between malignant and benign tumors. This innovative antenna can serve as an effective initial screening tool, particularly in resource‐limited settings such as rural areas, where access to advanced medical equipment like MRI and ...

PARAMETERS IDENTIFICATION IN BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS

Kybernetes, 1981
Many bio‐medical models leads to differential systems. Some coefficients (exchange parameters,…) must be identified from partial observation on the system's solution. We suggest methods to study the existence and unicity of the identification problem.

Sensitivity of Biological Models to Errors in Parameter Estimates [PDF]

open access: possibleBiocomputing '99, 1998
Since A. M. Turing's paper proposing a mathematical basis for pattern formation in developing organisms many mathematical approaches have been proposed to model biological phenomenon. Continued laboratory study and recent improvements in measurement capabilities have provided an immense quantity of raw gene expression data.

Parameter synthesis for polynomial biological models

Proceedings of the 17th international conference on Hybrid systems: computation and control, 2014
Parameter determination is an important task in the development of biological models. In this paper we consider parametric polynomial dynamical systems and address the following parameter synthesis problem: find a set of parameter values so that the resulting system satisfies a desired property. Our synthesis technique exploits the Bernstein polynomial

A support to biological validation of oxygenation parameters

Annales de biologie clinique, 2017
Blood gas analyzers are able to provide information on a wide range of oxygenation parameters. Some of these data are complex. Their biological significance or clinical consistency are not always well known. This article aims to define these parameters, their reference values according to the type of sample; and to outline the possible errors during ...
