Science of The Total Environment, 1993Biological environmental specimens, including samples of human tissues, were stored for 5-10 years after solubilizing by mineralization in boiling nitric acid. The sampling procedure, transport treatment and storing was standardized. Documentation identifying the sample and its origin were used.

Biological specimen banks in neonatal screening
Acta Paediatrica, 1999The Danish neonatal screening program analyses dried blood spot samples (DBSS) from close to 70 000 newborns annually from Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Since 1982, all DBSS have been stored in a biological specimen bank at −20°C as a routine procedure after analysis.

Determination of Manganese in Biological Specimens
American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1962Abstract Two methods of sample preparation and three colorimetric methods for the determination of manganese in biological specimens have been improved and evaluated. The diethylaniline method in which the manganese serves as a catalyst for color development proved to be far superior in sensitivity for urine samples.
