Synthesis and Experimental Investigation of Tribological Performance of a Blended (Palm and Mahua) Bio-lubricant using the Taguchi Design of Experiment (DOE)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology, 2017
The increasing prices of commercial lubricants and global attention towards a green environment have become the key issues to re-think about alternatives to commercially available lubricants.

The enzyme kinetics of branched‐chain fatty acid synthesis of metazoan fatty acid synthase

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Branched‐chain fatty acids (BCFAs) exhibit enhanced oxidative stability, lower melting points, and reduced viscosity compared to straight‐chain fatty acids (StCFAs), making them valuable for biological systems and industrial applications.

Immunosuppressive Cytokine‐Tethered Hydrogel for Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 19, July 28, 2025.
An injectable hydrogel is developed by chemically tethering IL‐4, an immunosuppressive cytokine, to a hyaluronic acid‐based backbone. The hydrogel reduces joint friction and exerts immunomodulatory effects. In a rheumatoid arthritis (RA) mouse model, it reduced inflammation, preserved cartilage, and promoted anti‐inflammatory immune responses.

Synthesis and Physical Properties of Potential Biolubricants based on Ricinoleic Acid

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 2010
AbstractThe desire to replace petroleum‐based materials with environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives has stimulated the development of vegetable oil‐based materials as biolubricants. Our studies have focused on molecules that might be produced by biosynthesis of genetically altered oilseed plants with limited post‐harvest modification ...

The Fusion of Elemental Sulfur With Waste Cooking Oil‐Based Derivatives: Beyond Renewability

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 127, Issue 7, July 2025.
The fuse of two waste streams, elemental sulfur and waste cooking oil, is enabled by Inverse Vulcanization. The process might ensure the closed‐loop production of polymeric materials for a wide range of applications, beyond its sole potential renewability.

Review on Synthesis Methods of Carbon Nanotubes as Activated Carbon Composites Based on Biomass for Supercapacitors in Electric Vehicles

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 13, Issue 7, July 2025.
This work reviews various methods to synthesize carbon nanotubes and analyzes the best methods to produce composites for supercapacitors for electric vehicles. Chemical vapor deposition is found to be the best method because the produced CNTs can be used directly without purification unless the catalyst particles need to be removed.

Friction and Wear Characterizations in Electrospun Nanofibrous Scaffolds for Cartilage Engineering

open access: yesNano Select, Volume 6, Issue 7, July 2025.
Articular cartilage (AC)‐engineered electrospun scaffolds have experienced a surge in interest in publication in recent years. However, nanofiber frictional properties are poorly explored in the existing literature. We evaluated the effect of countersurface, speed, and hydrophilicity on nanofibers.

Synthesis, Characterization and Physicochemical Properties of Oleic Acid Ether Derivatives as Biolubricant Basestocks

open access: yesJournal of Oleo Science, 2011
Petroleum is a finite source as well as causing several environmental problems. Therefore petroleum needs to be replaced by alternative and sustainable sources. Plant oils and oleochemicals derived from them represent such alternative sources; the use of oleochemicals as biobased lubricants is of significant interest.

MXene‐Based Photothermal‐Responsive Injectable Hydrogel Microsphere Modulates Physicochemical Microenvironment to Alleviate Osteoarthritis

open access: yesSmart Medicine, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
Photothermo‐responsive hydrogel microspheres were synthesized using microfluidic technology, demonstrating controlled drug release under NIR laser irradiation and enhanced joint lubrication. The anti‐inflammatory efficacy, reduction in cartilage degradation, and effective management of osteoarthritis in rat models were confirmed, highlighting their ...

Comparative Study of Plant‐Based Antioxidants on the Stability of Soybean and Beef Tallow Biodiesels

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 4, Page 1706-1719, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Biodiesel is a renewable alternative fuel, but its oxidative instability reduces quality and performance over time. This study explicitly aimed to investigate the efficacy of natural antioxidants—acerola, soursop, mango, and pitanga leaves—and compare their performance to the synthetic antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in enhancing ...
