Equilibrium moisture content of biomass briquettes

Biomass and Bioenergy, 2004
Abstract Equilibrium moisture content (EMC) of commercially available biomass briquettes at 40–85% relative humidity was compared with the EMC of cotton stalks and saw mill waste. No significance difference in EMC was noticed at relative humidity value up to 70%.

Activated carbon briquettes from biomass materials

Bioresource Technology, 2007
Disposal of biomass wastes, produced in different agricultural activities, is frequently an environmental problem. A solution for such situation is the recycling of these residues for the production of activated carbon, an adsorbent which has several applications, for instance in the elimination of contaminants.

Physical Quality of Some Biomass Briquettes

Journal of Agricultural Engineering (India), 2007
This paper deals with the effect of material and concentration of binders on the physical quality of biomass briquettes. The briquettes were prepared using tree leaves, saw dust and wheat straw. Two binding materials namely, molasses and sodium silicate at varying concentration were used in the preparation of briquettes.

Biomass Briquette Characterization for Downdraft Gasification

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
The present study involves the preparation and characterization of the biomass briquettes made from saw dust and rice husk. Five samples with different compositions were prepared using the old news papers as the binder for both the biomass. Ultimate analysis, proximate analysis, heating value and handling characteristic of all the samples were ...

Experimental Investigations on the Characteristics of Biomass and Coal-Biomass Fuel Briquettes

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Combustion of coal, a fossil fuel, in power plant, is a major source of carbon dioxide emission, a greenhouse gas that causes global warming. Malaysia is one of the major exporters of palm oil and has 421 palm oil mills operating in 2010. Some of the residues from these mills like palm kernel shell and palm mesocarp fibre were converted into value ...
