Solid fuel briquette from biomass: Recent trends

open access: yesOvidius University Annals of Chemistry, 2022
Abstract Solid fuel briquette from biomass materials has gained considerable attention as sustainable replacement source of energy. The characteristics of briquette are imperative to ensure its effectiveness as fuel in a long run. This paper is aimed to summarize the key properties of solid briquette made from various natural and waste ...

Mechanical Properties Of Composite Biomass Briquettes

open access: yesEnvironment. Technology. Resources. Proceedings of the International Scientific and Practical Conference, 2015
In the handling and usage processes, sufficient density and durability of biomass (straw, read) briquettes should be provided. For the briquettes density standards determined the value ρ > 1.0 g cm-3. In ? the densification process usually fine grinded particles are used, what significantly increases energy consumption for stalk material cutting.

Development and characterisation of charcoal briquettes from water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes)-molasses blend. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Charcoal briquettes are inexpensive solid fuels made from carbonized biomass. The potential of converting water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) charcoal into briquettes with molasses as binder was investigated in this study.

Briquetting of Poplar Wood from Short Rotation Coppice—The Effects of Moisture Content and Hammer Mill Screen Size

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Studies on the use of biomass from short rotation coppices for briquette production as a sustainable biofuel have been scarce in the literature. This study investigated the effects of two process variables, hammer mill screen size at three levels (5.3 ...

Investigation of Process Variables in the Densification of Corn Stover Briquettes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The bulk density of raw corn stover is a major limitation to its large-scale viability as a biomass feedstock. Raw corn stover has a bulk density of 50 kg/m3, which creates significant transportation costs and limits the optimization of transport ...

Biocarbon Suitability Evaluation for Direct Injection in Blast Furnace Ironmaking

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study examines densified biocarbon for direct injection in blast furnace ironmaking to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG). Enhanced burnout performance, along with favorable reactivity and carbon structure of the combustion residue, supports its suitability for blast furnace injection. Modeling results indicate that up to a 27% reduction in GHG emissions
