Extra Climate Benefits From Afforestation Due to Reduced Forest Fragmentation in China
Afforestation in China reduced forest fragmentation in 2015, transforming 51.8 M ha of edge forests into interior forests. This enhanced carbon sequestration (1.4±0.2 Pg CO2e, a cooling biogeochemical effect), while reduced albedo (−0.9 Pg CO2e, a warming biophysical effect) partially offset the gain, yielding a net extra climate benefit of ...

Design and Properties of Novel Hydrophobic Natural Tea Saponin and Its Organogels
It was first discovered that the excellent gelation ability of tea saponin can be obtained by introducing long-chain alkyl groups of dodecanoyl chloride into the glycosyl portion with direct esterification.

Thermally Processable, Transparent, Mechanically Tunable and Robust Bioplastics From Wastepaper
Unlike conventional inefficient or low‐value wastepaper recycling, a directional transformation strategy is employed to convert whole wastepaper into intact bioplastics with tunable mechanical properties in our work. These bioplastics can be processed into flexible bags or rigid containers and exhibit high transparency, water resistance, repairability,

Biomass Energy and Biomass as A Clean Energy
This paper discusses biomass as a renewable energy source. The world's population continues to grow at a high rate, such that today's population is twice that of 1960, and is projected to increase further to 9 billion by 2050. The paper defines the resources as well as the ways biomass energy is converted into electricity, technologies involved in ...

Conventional passive radiative cooling films rely on costly feedstocks and energy‐intensive fabrication, with poor end‐of‐life compatibility in agriculture. To address this challenge, a sustainable radiative cooling mulch (SRCM) is developed from waste maize leaves via spontaneous hydrogen‐bond self‐assembly.

Treatment‐resistant wounds caused by polymicrobial biofilms are refractory to conventional therapies due to the dense extracellular matrices. We developed μBLAST, a microblasting wound dressing that combines MnO2‐doped biosilica and a H2O2‐releasing mesh to generate localized oxygen microbubbles that mechanically disrupt biofilms.

Multi‐Targeting Carnosic Acid Kills Drug‐Resistant Helicobacter pylori With Narrow‐Spectrum Activity
Carnosic acid selectively eradicates drug‐resistant Helicobacter pylori through a multi‐targeted mechanism involving urease inhibition, membrane disruption, and biofilm eradication. It exhibits no detectable resistance, potent in vivo efficacy, and minimal impact on gut microbiota, positioning it as a promising narrow‐spectrum lead compound against ...
