Community‐appropriate bioenergy resource potential assessment in Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan

open access: yesCanadian Geographer / Le géographe canadien, Volume 69, Issue 3, Autumn / automne 2025.
Abstract Bioenergy is a promising renewable energy option for energy insecure communities across the boreal region. Whilst community energy planning tools are advancing, many are driven by external technical resource assessments and fail to capture local community values. Community energy solutions must be community‐appropriate.

Fertilizer‐induced soil carbon rapidly disappears after clearcutting in boreal production forests

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 5, Page 1202-1215, May 2025.
Overall, the carry‐over effects on biodiversity from forest fertilization into stands regenerating after clearcutting were limited. We conclude that soil organic carbon stores induced by fertilization are short‐lived and do not persist after clearcutting.

The Influence of Concentration Liquid Waste of Tofu Production to Daphnia SP Cultivation Biomass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A natural feed of freshwater fish as long as it depends on worms tubifex is hard to be cultivated. Daphnia sp is one of the kinds of Cladocera zooplankton to be an alternative as a natural feed for seed of fish.

Rainfall seasonality shapes belowground root trait dynamics in an Amazonian tropical rainforest: A test of the stress‐dominance hypothesis

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 799-812, March 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract The stress‐dominance hypothesis (SDH) predicts that trait variation at the community level increases with the availability of limiting resources, driving spatial and temporal patterns in above‐ground plant functional trait expression.

Agricultural Decision Support Tools in Europe: What Kind of Tools Are Needed to Foster Soil Health?

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 76, Issue 2, March–April 2025.
ABSTRACT Decision support tools (DSTs) are crucial in aiding agricultural decision‐making, particularly in improving soil health by enhancing nutrient management, soil organic matter (SOM) and water retention. Despite the availability of numerous DSTs in Europe, their adoption, effectiveness and development needs are not well understood, as most ...
