Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

Dynamic Control of Synaptic Plasticity by Competing Ferroelectric and Trap‐Assisted Switching in IGZO Transistors with Al2O3/HfO2 Dielectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A frequency‐tunable ferroelectric synaptic transistor based on a buried‐gate InGaZnO channel and Al2O3/HfO2 dielectric stack exhibits linear and reversible weight updates using single‐polarity pulses. By switching between ferroelectric and trap‐assisted modes depending on input frequency, the device simplifies neuromorphic circuit design and achieves ...

Label-Free Sensing of Cell Viability Using a Low-Cost Impedance Cytometry Device

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
Cell viability is an essential physiological status for drug screening. While cell staining is a conventional cell viability analysis method, dye staining is usually cytotoxic.

At‐Home Early Diagnosis of Mastitis: Calibration‐Free Analysis of Sodium to Potassium Ratio in Breast Milk

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAMAWEL is introduced as the first calibration‐free potentiometric sensor for at‐home mastitis diagnosis. By measuring the sodium‐to‐potassium ratio in breast milk, the device reliably differentiates between healthy and mastitis‐affected samples with less than 10% error.

Flow-Induced Voltage Generation Over Monolayer Graphene in the Presence of Herringbone Grooves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
While flow-induced voltage over a graphene layer has been reported, its origin remains unclear. In our previous study, we suggested different mechanisms for different experimental configurations: phonon dragging effect for the parallel alignment and an ...

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

A study on the fabrication of metal microneedle array electrodes for ECG detection based on low melting point Bi–In–Sn alloys

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
This study describes the fabrication and characteristics of microneedle array electrodes (MAEs) using Bismuth–Indium–Tin (Bi–In–Sn) alloys. The MAEs consist of 57 pyramid-shaped needles measuring 340 μm wide and 800 μm high.
