A FLEXIBLE MEASURE OF CONTEXTUAL SIMILARITY FOR BIOMEDICAL TERMS [PDF]

open access: yesBiocomputing 2005, 2004
We present a measure of contextual similarity for biomedical terms. The contextual features need to be explored, because newly coined terms are not explicitly described and efficiently stored in biomedical ontologies and their inner features (e.g. morphologic or orthographic) do not always provide sufficient information about the properties of the ...

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Development of measurement technique of living body flexibility by indentation test using concentrated mass model

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
Palpation is an important diagnostic technique in medicine. However, it is subjective, and successful diagnosis depends on the skill and experience of the doctor.

Noninvasive depth estimation using tissue optical properties and a dual-wavelength fluorescent molecular probe in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Translation of fluorescence imaging using molecularly targeted imaging agents for real-time assessment of surgical margins in the operating room requires a fast and reliable method to predict tumor depth from planar optical imaging.

Pressure Measurement at Biomedical Interfaces

open access: yes, 2011
The science of pressure measurement is mature with many available pressure measurement technologies some of which have their origins dating back to steam power and the industrial revolution. Along with temperature, the use of pressure as a general physiological parameter is well established and it may be accurately and reliably determined for a wide ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

CNN-Based Projected Gradient Descent for Consistent Image Reconstruction

open access: yes, 2017
We present a new method for image reconstruction which replaces the projector in a projected gradient descent (PGD) with a convolutional neural network (CNN).

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...
