Aligning Biomedical Ontologies
The amount of biomedical information that is disseminated over the Web increases every day. This rich resource is used to find solutions to challenges across the life sciences. The Semantic Web for life sciences shows promise for effectively and efficiently locating, integrating, querying and inferring related information that is needed in daily ...

Resident myonuclei are the molecular “control centers” for large multinuclear muscle fibers. It is presumed that, with aging, these control centers become compromised and contribute to delayed or blunted muscle adaptive potential. This study is a detailed roadmap that exposes how young versus aged myonuclei respond to a hypertrophic loading stimulus ...

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

The evaluation of ontologies: Editorial review vs. democratic ranking [PDF]
Increasingly, the high throughput technologies used by biomedical researchers are bringing about a situation in which large bodies of data are being described using controlled structured vocabularies—also known as ontologies—in order to support the ...

DNA Replication Errors Drive Genome‐Wide Small Inverted Triplication Dynamics
This study provides insight into the dynamic equilibrium mechanism of a novel structural variant, small inverted triplication (SIT), which is generated by misalignment of the 3’ flap generated under DNA replication stress with palindromic sequence. Alternatively, the end sequence may fold back on itself to form an inverted fragment.

Investigating subsumption in DL-based terminologies: A case study in SNOMED CT [PDF]
Formalisms such as description logics (DL) are sometimes expected to help terminologies ensure compliance with sound ontological principles. The objective of this paper is to study the degree to which one DL-based biomedical terminology (SNOMED

Biomedical ontology alignment with BERT
Existing machine learning-based ontology alignment systems often adopt complicated feature engineering or traditional non-contextual word embeddings. However, they are often outrun by the rule-based sys- tems despite the model complexity. This paper proposes a novel ontology alignment system based on a contextual embedding model named BERT, aiming to ...

Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.

This work proposes a multifunctional Bi2WO6:Yb,Er@CuS@CS nanocomposite that integrates photodynamic therapy (PDT), near‐infrared‐triggered photothermal therapy (PTT), and Cu2+ release for infected wound repair. The nanocomposite demonstrates enhanced antibacterial efficacy via combined PDT, PTT, and Cu2+ release, effective immunomodulatory by mild ...
