Beyond Technological Maturity: Understanding the Institutional Trajectories of Carbon‐Derived Renewable Methane in the European Energy System

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that the limitation of bioCO2‐derived methane is systemic rather than technological, and provide a validated framework for traceability, certification, and policy alignment enabling its integration into RFNBO‐compliant value chains and EU energy systems. ABSTRACT Renewable methane derived from biogenic CO2 (bioCO2) occupies a paradoxical

The Critical Role of Economies of Scale: A Techno‐Economic Assessment of Small‐ Versus Large‐Scale Biogas Upgrading in Rural Tanzania

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Small‐scale biogas upgrading can improve methane quality but remains financially unattractive to individual rural households. Community‐scale implementation substantially lowers energy costs, demonstrating that economies of scale are critical to making purified biogas a viable clean‐cooking option in Tanzania.

The Role of Regulation in the Market Integration of the Power to Biomethane Process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The power system does not have the ability of long-term power storage. Therefore, the power to gas technology can offer a sensible solution for this problem in the context of future intersectional energy systems. This can be of high relevance for Denmark and Germany, two countries that are going through a major energy system transition towards ...
