Biophysical regulation during cardiac development and application to tissue engineering

open access: yesThe International Journal of Developmental Biology, 2006
Tissue engineering combines the principles of biology, engineering and medicine to create biological substitutes of native tissues, with an overall objective to restore normal tissue function. It is thought that the factors regulating tissue development in vivo (genetic, molecular and physical) can also direct cell fate and tissue assembly in vitro. In

CASPULE: A computational tool to study sticker spacer polymer condensates.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology
Phase separated condensates are recognized as a ubiquitous mechanism of spatial organization in cell biology. Biophysical modeling of condensates provides critical insights into the dynamics and functions of these subcellular structures that are ...

Assessment of land use and land cover (LULC) and vegetation degradation state from wildfire within the scope of forest landscape restoration (FLR) in Cameroon

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing
Forest-Savannah transition zones are increasingly vulnerable due to their position between the savannah and forest ecosystems, and their ecological and biophysical characteristics.

Plasma Gelation as an Overlooked Determinant of Transfection Efficiency in Protein Corona‐Coated Lipid Nanoparticles: Implications for In Vitro–In Vivo Translation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Upon contact with plasma, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) rapidly acquire a protein corona (PC) that redefines their biological identity. In calcium‐containing environments, these coronated particles trigger the formation of a gel‐like plasma network, profoundly altering their transport properties and reducing their effective availability.

Automatic evergreen forest mapping based on Harmonised Landsat Sentinel-2 and existing broad-category land cover product within Google Earth Engine

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing
Evergreen forests retain green foliage throughout the year and exhibit distinct phenological and biophysical characteristics. However, although many regional and global land cover products are available at 30 m resolution, most adopt coarse ...

Hydrophilic Polymers Enable Gastrointestinal Transit Monitoring by Fluorine‐19 Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrophilic fluorinated copolymers dissolve in chyme and give a strong, single 19F signal, unlike phase‐separating perfluorocarbons. Combined 1H‐19F MRI tracks their whole‐gut transit non‐invasively and without ionizing radiation. In rats, the tracers move through the gastrointestinal tract, resist resorption, and are well tolerated, a proof‐of‐concept

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.
