Biophysical and Biochemical Characteristics as Complementary Indicators of Melanoma Progression

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2019
The multistep character of cancer progression makes it difficult to define a unique biomarker of the disease. Interdisciplinary approaches, combining various complementary techniques, especially those operating at a nanoscale level, potentially accelerate characterization of cancer cells or tissue properties.

Estimation of above-ground biomass in tropical afro-montane forest using Sentinel-2 derived indices

open access: yesEnvironmental Systems Research, 2022
Empirical analyses were common methods for forest biomass estimation. Lately, satellite images are popularly used to study different attributes of forest vegetation.

Correlations between spectral and biophysical data obtained in canola canopy cultivated in the subtropical region of Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2017
: The objective of this work was to identify the spectral bands, vegetation indices, and periods of the canola crop season in which the correlation between spectral data and biophysical indicators (total shoot dry matter and grain yield) is most ...

Leaf Age Matters in Remote Sensing: Taking Ground Truth for Spectroscopic Studies in Hemiboreal Deciduous Trees with Continuous Leaf Formation

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
We examined the seasonal changes in biophysical, anatomical, and optical traits of young leaves, formed throughout the vegetative season due to sylleptic growth, and mature leaves formed by proleptic growth in spring.

Irrigation requirement estimation using vegetation indices and inverse biophysical modeling [PDF]

open access: yes2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
We explore an inverse biophysical modeling process forced by satellite and climatological data to quantify irrigation requirements in semi-arid agricultural areas. We constrain the carbon and water cycles modeled under both equilibrium, balance between vegetation and climate, and non-equilibrium, water added through irrigation.
