No Clue About Bioplastics [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2019
We analyze recycling decisions for bioplastics using a natural field experiment. Bioplastics have environmental benefits – such as reduced energy use in production and enhanced biodegredation – compared to conventional plastics. Recycling decisions that are not consistent with government guidelines, however, may cause a rebound effect.

A Basic Characterisation Study of Bioplastics via Gelatinization of Corn Starch

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science & Process Engineering, 2021
Plastic waste is the third-largest waste source in the world, so it raises the world’s human health and environmental concerns. Replacing conventional petroleum plastic with bioplastic is an alternative way to minimise plastic wastes from human life and ...

Transmission electron microscopy characterisation of Spirulina bioplastics. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Microsc
Abstract Plastic pollution is impacting global ecosystem health. Bioplastics made from unprocessed biomass, including whole or fragmented tissues, are one potential solution. They are biodegradable and exhibit competitive mechanical performance. Seaweed and microalgae have gained popularity over the last decade as bioplastic feedstocks due to their ...

A liquid bioplastic formulation for film coating of agronomic seeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Interest in industrial and domestic applications of biodegradable plastics from renewable sources is increasing, but their use in agriculture is still limited (e.g., mulching films, plant pots, and plant clips).
