Influence of landfill leachate suspended solids on clog (biorock) formation

Waste Management, 2004
Laboratory column tests were performed to evaluate the role of leachate-suspended-solids in clogging a granular material permeated with Keele Valley Landfill leachate. The development of the clog material was a result of biological, chemical, and physical processes occurring within the column.

Potential Improvements in Biorock Technology and Eco‐Engineering: Enhancing Coral Ecosystem Regeneration

Aquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems
ABSTRACTCoral reefs are one of the planet's most diverse and productive ecosystems, providing habitat to a wide array of marine species. They also play a pivotal role in coastal protection against waves and storms, granting stability and preempting coastal erosion. Regrettably, these environments are facing severe anthropogenic threats.

The effects of Biorock-associated electric fields on the Caribbean reef shark (Carcharhinus perezi) and the bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas)

Animal Biology, 2017
Healthy coral reefs are biologically diverse and provide vital ecosystem services. However, decreasing water quality and global warming are key contributors to coral reef decline, which poses substantial environmental threats. In response to this degradation, an innovative coral reef restoration technology, called Biorock, utilizes weak direct current ...
