Campylobacter infections in children exposed to infected backyard poultry in Egypt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Campylobacteriosis is a zoonotic disease which has a worldwide public health impact. The disease is endemic in Egypt; however, the epidemiology in animals and humans has not been fully characterized. The objective of this study was to compare the risk of

Bimetallic Peroxide Nanocomposites‐Driven Redox Dyshomeostasis to Activate Sequential Cuproptosis and Pyroptosis for Amplified Tumor Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hyaluronic acid‐modified bimetallic peroxide nanocomposites (MgO2‐CuO2@HA) are designed for synergistic tumor therapy. The nanocomposites release Mg2+, H2O2, and Cu2+ in tumor cells, induce cuproptosis via Cu+‐mediated protein aggregation, and activate pyroptosis through caspase‐1/gasdermin D pathways for inducing immunogenic cell death, collectively ...

Characterization of commercial poultry farms in Mexico: Towards a better understanding of biosecurity practices and antibiotic usage patterns.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Mexico is one of the world's major poultry producing countries. Two significant challenges currently facing the poultry industry are the responsible and judicious use of antimicrobials, and the potential occurrence of infectious disease outbreaks.

Invasive alien species in the food chain : advancing risk assessment models to address climate change, economics and uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Economic globalization depends on the movement of people and goods between countries. As these exchanges increase, so does the potential for translocation of harmful pests, weeds, and pathogens capable of impacting our crops, livestock and natural ...

TriCON: A Carbon‐Based Triple‐Modal Nanoplatform for Pancreatic Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed TriCON, a triple‐modality nanotherapeutic platform, to treat pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) by synergizing gene editing, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. TriCON utilizes CRISPR/Cas9 to target the poliovirus receptor (PVR), combined with nano‐encapsulated doxorubicin and checkpoint blockade. This approach achieved significant tumor

Adopting biosecurity measures in cattle breeding systems in Indonesia

open access: yesOnline Journal of Animal and Feed Research, 2022
The study aimed to analyze the barriers to implementing biosecurity measures. Biosecurity refers to a collection of procedures designed to keep disease from spreading beyond the farm. Isolation, sanitation, and cage traffic control are all biosecurity strategies.

A Testis‐Specific Aralkylamine N‐Acetyltransferase Regulates Dimorphic Sperm Function and Male Fertility in Moths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.
