The stratigraphy, correlation, provenance and palaeogeography of the Skiddaw Group (Ordovician) in the English Lake District [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A new lithostratigraphy is presented for the Skiddaw Group (lower Ordovician) of the English Lake District. Two stratigraphical belts are described. Five formations are defined in the Northern Fells Belt, ranging in age from Tremadoc to early Llanvirn.

Un silicoflagelado en el Albiano medio de la Cuenca Austral, Argentina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphic investigations of Cretaceous sediments within the southern high latitude Austral Basin, Argentina, have revealed the presence of a fragment of a silicoflagellate possibly belonging to the species Variramus ...

Major Shifts in Equatorial Atlantic and Pacific Calcareous Nannofossil Assemblages Across the Early Eocene Climatic Optimum (EECO; ∼53–49 Ma)

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract The early Eocene Climatic Optimum (EECO; ∼53–49 Ma) was the warmest sustained global warming episode of the Cenozoic, accompanied by major alterations in terrestrial and marine biota. Here we detail changes in low‐latitude calcareous nannofossil assemblages at two tropical sites in the equatorial Atlantic (ODP Site 1258) and Pacific (ODP Site ...

Middle Jurassic–Early Cretaceous foraminiferal biozonation of the Amran Group, eastern Sana’a Basin, Yemen

open access: yesGeologos, 2017
Two sections of strata assigned to the Amran Group at Jabal Salab and Jabal Yam in the eastern Sana’a governorate were sampled and correlated. These sections are part of a carbonate platform that extends from the city of Marib in the east to Naqil Ibn ...

Graptolites from Silurian (Llandovery Series) sedimentary deposits attributed to a forearc setting, Co To Formation, Co To archipelago, northeast Vietnam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Newly collected graptolites from the Co To Formation, Co To archipelago, NE Vietnam, comprise assemblages indicative of two biostratigraphical levels within the lower Silurian, Llandovery Series, Telychian Stage: the co-occurrence of Spirograptus ...

Approaching the Miocene Climatic Optimum in Patagonia (Southern Argentina): Temperature Seasonality and a Potential Role for the Opening Drake Passage

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract The Miocene Epoch (23.03–5.33 Ma) is receiving increased attention because estimated pCO2 and its associated warmth is comparable to projections over the next century. Well‐constrained sea‐surface temperatures in the tropics and northern latitudes express amplified warming during the Miocene Climatic Optimum (MCO; 16.9–14.7 Ma), yet data from ...

Biostratigraphic correlation of the western and eastern margins of the Labrador–Baffin Seaway and implications for the regional geology. Fig. 5 [PDF]

open access: yesGeological Survey of Denmark and Greenland Bulletin, 2016
New analyses of the palynological assemblages in 13 offshore wells on the Canadian margin and six on the West Greenland Margin, in conjunction with onshore data, have led to a new biostratigraphic framework for the Cretaceous–Cenozoic strata of the ...

New data on middle and late Albian foraminifera and biostratigraphy of the northern palaeobiogeographical district of western Siberia

open access: yesGeologos, 2015
The present paper discusses foraminiferal assemblages and biozones established on the basis of studies of samples from ten borehole sequences of the Khanty-Mansiysk Horizon in the Samotlor area of the northern palaeobiogeographical district of western ...

Calcareous Nannofossils Biostratigraphy of Late Cretaceous–Paleocene Successions from Northern Jordan and Their Implications for Basin Analysis

open access: yesGeosciences, 2023
Local geological and tectonic processes have been pivotal in shaping the diverse sedimentation patterns observed in Jordan, forming sub-basins characterized by elevated organic matter content (TOC). This study aims to characterize the Maastrichtian basin,
