Participatory approaches to improving recreational fisheries management in a remote island system
Marine recreational fisheries management is often impacted by data deficiencies and conflicting stakeholder views. Using participatory approaches can help to increase fisher engagement and identify trade‐offs to boost future management. Social science tools, including scenario‐based approaches, were used to explore recreational fisheries on a remote ...

Assessing the past and future impact of a long‐term island restoration program
The IUCN Green Status of Species uses a qualitative and inferential approach to evaluate the past and expected future impacts of conservation on species recovery. Using this approach, we demonstrate the impact of a long‐term, multi‐organization conservation program in Mauritius in preventing the extinction of nine species, and the importance of ...

Using acoustic surveys, we investigated habitat use and diel activity patterns of insectivorous bats across the main land‐use types of the endemic‐rich Príncipe Island, in Central West Africa. We sampled bat activity at 48 sites spanning old‐growth forests, secondary regrowth forests, shaded cocoa plantations, and horticultural areas.

Comparing reef structure and mobile species assemblages at remnant and restored mussel reefs
Mussel restoration aims to replicate natural processes of reef establishment. The similarities in mussel reef structure and large mobile species communities observed between remnant and restored mussel reefs in this study provide evidence that, in the absence of intact systems, remnant mussel reefs adjacent to temperate rocky reefs may be suitable as ...
