A STUDY OF RADIOACTIVE CONTAMINATION OF MARINE BIOTA AFTER THE FUKUSHIMA ACCIDENT
134Cs and 137Cs contents have been studied in 44 samples of the marine biota including four species of brown and red algae (11 samples), four species of invertebrates (8 samples) and ten species of fish (25 samples).

Soil biota in grassland, its ecosystem services and the impact of management [PDF]
In the search for sustainable grassland systems, self-regulating processes in the soil become increasingly important. Soil biota play an important role in these processes and in the provision of various ecosystem services. For grassland systems important

Soil biological quality of grassland fertilized with adjusted cattle manure slurries in comparison with organic and inorganic fertilizers [PDF]
We studied the effect of five fertilizers (including two adjusted manure slurries) and an untreated control on soil biota and explored the effect on the ecosystem services they provided.

The environmental behavior and impact of anti‐corrosion nanoadditives, ZnAl‐NO2 and MgAl‐NO2 layered double hydroxides (LDH), are assessed under marine conditions. These nanomaterials show instability in water but exhibit no or low toxicity to most tested marine species.

Climate change increases the recurrence of drought events with strong repercussions on grassland ecosystems. While the effects of single drought events on ecosystem structure and functioning are well understood, it is largely unknown whether and how recurrent drought events modify ecosystem responses to subsequent drought.

Emerging contaminants in biota [PDF]
The determination of emerging contaminants in biota is a difficult task and a major analytical challenge because of both the complexity of biological matrices, for example algae, fish, shellfish, mammals, or eggs, and the low parts per trillion levels at which the target compounds are present.

The potential impact of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) on fisheries [PDF]
The commercial development of ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) operations will involve some environmental perturbations for which there is no precedent experience. The pumping of very large volumes of warm surface water and cold deep water and its
