Divergent Responses of Bacterial Communities to Permafrost Degradation and Their Associations With Carbon Across Vertical Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacterial α‐diversity decreases, but stochasticity and community stability increase across the 15 m‐depth vertical profiles and along the degraded gradient within the active layer. The abundance and interaction of core taxa mainly control community stability in the active and permafrost layers, respectively.

Epidemiological survey of Xanthomonas arboricola pv. juglandis and Gnomonia leptostyla on natural population of walnut (Juglans regia) in eastern Transylvania

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2007
In Romania, walnut Juglans regia L. is an important fruit crop, although most of the fruit production comes from non-grafted walnut trees, which are natural hybrids.

Telomere‐to‐Telomere Genomes Reveal that Multiscale Evolution Shapes the Largest Metabolic Arsenal of Diaporthe Fungi

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents the first telomere‐to‐telomere genomes and population resources for Diaporthe pathogens, uncovering the largest known fungal repertoire of secondary metabolite gene clusters. Structural variations and horizontal gene transfer drive cluster diversification, while specific rapidly evolving clusters control virulence, offering novel ...

Mass Spectrometry Imaging‐Assisted Discovery of Gallotannin Biosynthetic Genes in the Root of Paeonia suffruticosa

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated approach combining mass spectrometry imaging, transcriptomics, and phylogenetic analysis facilitated the efficient identification of genes involved in gallotannin biosynthesis in Paeonia suffruticosa. As a result, a key UGT and several SCPL acyltransferases responsible for biosynthesizing pentagalloylglucose were successfully identified ...

Soil Factors Key to 3,4-Dimethylpyrazole Phosphate (DMPP) Efficacy: EC and SOC Dominate over Biotic Influences

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Nitrification inhibitors like 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP) are crucial in agriculture to reduce nitrogen losses. However, the efficacy of DMPP varies in different soils.

Natural Negative Feedback Loops Confer Indica‐Japonica Differentiation for Grain Size Homeostasis in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the genetic and molecular mechanisms controlling grain size homeostasis through fine‐tuning OsGRX8 self‐expression by two natural negative feedback loops functioning in redox‐dependent or ‐independent manners and identifies two self‐regulatory haplotypes (SRHs) for the subspecies differentiation in rice.

Climate and seasonality drive the richness and composition of tropical fungal endophytes at a landscape scale

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2021
Oita, Arnold and colleagues investigate the interplay between abiotic and biotic factors in lowland forest microbial communities. Their results indicate that endophyte richness negatively correlates with temperature seasonality.
