A Metagenome Diversity Profile of Springs Microbial for Oligotroph Springs Assessment in UB Forest [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal Bioautomation
Ecosystem quality is an emergent property of a complex system that interacts between biotic and abiotic factors. The study aims to determine the bacterial community profile of several springs with different surrounding ecosystems.

Redescription of †Eobrasilia coutoi (Metatheria: Polydolopimorphia), a unique sclerocarpophagous metatherian from the Palaeogene of South America: Systematic affinities, and paleoecological and evolutionary implications

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The ‘Palaeogene strata’ of the Itaboraí Basin (upper Paleocene‐lower Eocene), Southeastern Brazil, has preserved 29 genera and almost 50 species of metatherians (about 65% of its mammalian diversity). Among them, Eobrasilia coutoi Simpson, 1947 is the most enigmatic due to its quite fragmentary nature.

Reproductive biology of Bryconamericus iheringii (Ostariophysi: Characidae) from rio Vacacaí, RS, Brazil

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology
In this paper we describe some aspects of the reproduction and development of secondary sexual characters of Bryconamericus iheringii, based on the analysis of 194 females and 210 males collected monthly in the rio Vacacaí (30º21'34"S and 54º18'48"W ...

Type I Interferon Drives Dysfunction of a Distinct CD8+ HLA‐DRB1+ T Cell Subset in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is characterized by type I interferon (IFN) signaling and adaptive immune dysregulation. We previously identified hypomethylation of HLA‐DRB1 and STAT1 in SLE CD8+ T cells, enabling aberrant IFN‐driven HLA‐DRB1 expression and expansion of a distinct CD8+ T cell subset. This study characterized CD8+ HLA‐DRB1+

Factors determining floristic composition and functional diversity of plant communities of Mount Oku forests, Cameroon

open access: yesJournal of Asia-Pacific Biodiversity, 2018
Mount Oku, in north-western Cameroon, holds many endemic and restricted-range species. This study identifies factors influencing the species and functional diversity of plant communities in Mount Oku forests.

Bacterial backpacks for targeted delivery of piezoelectric nanoparticles to enhance sonodynamic immunotherapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Leveraging bacterial hypoxia targeting, KBTO NPs accumulate at the tumor site. Under the ultrasound irradiation, KBTO NPs produce reactive oxygen species to kill tumor cells and eliminate bacteria, preventing overgrowth and inflammation. The lysed bacteria act as antigens to trigger antitumor immunity and further enhanced by the immune checkpoint ...

Dynamics of biotic resistance to plant invasions

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biotic resistance, the reduction in invasion success caused by native communities, plays an important role in the long‐term dynamics of biological invasions. A large body of empirical research on biotic resistance has accumulated since the last comprehensive review on the subject 20 years ago, enabling us to achieve a refined understanding of ...
