Biphenyl derivatives II. Basic 4‐Biphenyl compounds

Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas, 1950
AbstractContinuing investigations described in a preceding paper 1) N‐alkylated biphenyl‐4 and 4‐cyclohexyl phenyl‐substituted amines have been prepared and tested for pharmacological activities. N‐derivatives of (biphenyl‐4)‐methylamine, β‐(biphenyl‐4)‐ethylamine, 4‐(2′‐methoxy biphenyl)‐ethyl‐amine, 4‐(cyclohexyl phenyl)‐methylamine and β‐4 ...

Immunotoxicity of Polychlorinated Biphenyls and Related Compounds

1997
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) are hydrocarbons containing two ring structures that can be substituted with a varying number of chlorine atoms, altogether comprising 419 different congeners (Fig. 1).

Determination of polychlorinated biphenyl compounds in indoor air samples

Journal of Chromatography A, 2002
A simple procedure for the determination of six non-coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in medium volumes of indoor air is described. Samples are forced at 6 m3/h through a device consisting of a quartz filter connected to the end of a conventional solid-phase extraction cartridge containing 60 mg of functionalized styrene-divinylbenzene.

Degradation of acetonitrile and biphenyl compounds by a mixed microbial culture

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 1992
Abstract A mixed microbial culture was isolated from an environment contaminated with organic cyanides and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). This mixed culture could utilize acetonitrile as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen, and biphenyl as the sole source of carbon. This mixed culture also utilized nitriles, their respective amides,

Reactions of lithium-biphenyl adducts with carbonyl compounds

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1966
1. The reactions of lithium-biphenyl adducts in tetrahydrofuran solution with acetaldehyde, benzaldehyde, acetone, cyclohexanone, and ethyl octanoate were carried out. 2. The reaction of lithium-biphenyl adducts with carbonyl compounds takes two courses: condensation of the carbonyl compounds, and organolithium synthesis with formation ...

Triplet triplet absorption of biphenyl and related compounds

Chemical Physics Letters, 1974
Abstract Triplet triplet absorption spectra of biphenyl, carbazole and phenanthrene have been studied in rigid glass at 77 K. Oscillator strengths and polarizations are reported. A theoretical study has been performed using the Pariser-Parr-Pople approximation in order to support the band assignments.

Polychlorinated biphenyl compounds in milk and dairy products

Zeitschrift fr Lebensmittel-Untersuchung und -Forschung, 1980
The PCB content of 469 milk and dairy product samples was determined. The fat was extracted and cleaned up through aluminium oxide. The organochlorine pesticides and the PCBs were separated by chromatography through a silica gel column. The PCBs in the purified extracts were perchlorinated to decachlorobiphenyl and determined by gas chromatography. The

Effect of a novel biphenyl compound, VMNS2e on ob/ob mice

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2011
VMNS2e is a novel biphenyl compound, which in previous studies had showed most favourable interactions with the active site of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). The effect of acute and chronic treatment of VMNS2e (30mg/kg) was investigated in ob/ob mice.

Synthesis and Evaluation of Biphenyl Compounds as Kinesin Spindle Protein Inhibitors

Chemistry & Biodiversity, 2013
AbstractKinesin spindle protein (KSP), an ATP‐dependent motor protein, plays an essential role in bipolar spindle formation during the mitotic phase (M phase) of the normal cell cycle. KSP has emerged as a novel target for antimitotic anticancer drug development.
