Biphenyl derivatives II. Basic 4‐Biphenyl compounds

Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas, 1950
AbstractContinuing investigations described in a preceding paper 1) N‐alkylated biphenyl‐4 and 4‐cyclohexyl phenyl‐substituted amines have been prepared and tested for pharmacological activities. N‐derivatives of (biphenyl‐4)‐methylamine, β‐(biphenyl‐4)‐ethylamine, 4‐(2′‐methoxy biphenyl)‐ethyl‐amine, 4‐(cyclohexyl phenyl)‐methylamine and β‐4 ...

Crystal Structures of Two Biphenyl Compounds

Crystal Research and Technology, 2000
The crystal structures of two biphenyl compounds 3-amino -2,4 dicyano - 3',4',5' trimethoxy -1,3 terphenyl (I) and 3-amino -2,4,dicyano -5- methyl - 4'-N,N diethyl amino biphenyl (II) are described here (CCDC NO.: 134369 & 134370). The title compounds C 23 H 15 N 3 O 3 (I) and C 19 H 19 N 4 (II) crystallized in the centrosymmetric triclinic ...

Effective Inhibition of Hydroxyl Radicals by Hydroxylated Biphenyl Compounds

Free Radical Research Communications, 1993
In aqueous media, approximate rate constants for the reactions between hydroxyl radicals (.OH) and biphenyl compounds such as dehydrodieugenol, magnolol, honokiol, dehydrodidihydroeugenol, dehydrodivanillyl alcohol, and dehydrodicreosol were estimated by competition reactions for .OH between these biphenyls and 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide (DMPO ...

Photocatalytic degradation of hydroxylated biphenyl compounds

Applied Catalysis B: Environmental, 1996
The photocatalytic degradation of three hydroxylated bicyclic aromatic compounds (2,2′-dihydroxybiphenyl, 4,4′-dihydroxybiphenyl and 4-hydroxybiphenyl) in contact with TiO2, in aqueous unbuffered solution was achieved. The main intermediate, in all cases, was 1,2,4-trihydroxybenzene.

Synthesis and studies on luminescent biphenyl compounds

Synthetic Metals, 2000
A series of new soluble compounds based on a combination of biphenyl and stilbene structural elements having a low tendency to crystallize is described. Investigations on the effect of different substituents on the photoluminescence (PL) are presented. The new biphenyls are suitable as blue emissive layers in light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Determination of polychlorinated biphenyl compounds in indoor air samples

Journal of Chromatography A, 2002
A simple procedure for the determination of six non-coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in medium volumes of indoor air is described. Samples are forced at 6 m3/h through a device consisting of a quartz filter connected to the end of a conventional solid-phase extraction cartridge containing 60 mg of functionalized styrene-divinylbenzene.
