A Computational Approach for Biomimetic Design of Liver‐On‐A‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A biomimetic liver‐on‐a‐chip with antiparallel perfusion was designed using COMSOL‐guided simulation to replicate hepatic acinus transport. Full‐scale modelling revealed diffusion‐dominated, length‐dependent nutrient gradients and low‐shear conditions.

Modified bipolar membrane for electrodialysis processing of highly concentrated sodium nitrate and boric acid solution

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta
We studied the characteristics of two membranes: the industrial bipolar membrane MB-3, consisting of two layers, i.e., an anion exchanger with quaternary ammonium groups and a cation exchanger with phosphonate groups, and the membrane MB-3M, modified on ...

Scalable High‐Force Zipping Electrostatic Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
An electrostatic actuator architecture is presented that combines high energy density with forces and strokes suited for wearable soft robotics. By folding patterned thin films into a scalable honeycomb of zipping units, performance becomes tunable through series–parallel design, achieving over 40 N and 28 J/kg.

Functional Segregation of Epileptogenicity within the Human Amygdala

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective In temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), the amygdala in the epileptogenic network is underestimated compared to other regions such as the hippocampus. Recent advances in anatomical neuroimaging and stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) signal analyses could help better understand the involvement of the different amygdala nuclei in the genesis of ...
