Impacts of Flow Rate and Pulsed Electric Field Current Mode on Protein Fouling Formation during Bipolar Membrane Electroacidification of Skim Milk

open access: yesMembranes, 2020
Fouling is one of the major problems in electrodialysis. The aim of the present work was to investigate the effect of five different solution flow rates (corresponding to Reynolds numbers of 162, 242, 323, 404 and 485) combined with the use of pulsed ...

Fouling Mitigation by Optimizing Flow Rate and Pulsed Electric Field during Bipolar Membrane Electroacidification of Caseinate Solution

open access: yesMembranes, 2021
The efficiency of separation processes using ion exchange membranes (IEMs), especially in the food industry, is significantly limited by the fouling phenomenon, which is the process of the attachment and growth of certain species on the surface and ...

Resource utilization of high-salinity mine water through the membrane-integrated process based on bipolar membrane electrodialysis

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
In the context of “zero discharge” of mine water and the reverse distribution of coal and water resources in the western mining areas, the direct discharge of high-salinity mine water without proper treatment not only causes immeasurable damage to the ...

Feed and Bleed Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis Process

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Chemistry, 2018
In this study, a bipolar membrane electrodialysis process (BPMED) is applied to regenerate nitric acid and ammonia by splitting ammonium nitrate. Firstly, we have proved the process feasibility in batch mode. Secondly, using the same operating conditions, we have proposed to extend the study to a continuous (feed and bleed) operating mode.

Application of electrodialysis for the treatment of almond industry wastewater [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this work, electrodialysis has been proved to be a suitable technique for decreasing the conductivity of a real wastewater from an almond industry, which has been previously treated by electrocoagulation (EC) and electrooxidation (EO).
