Low‐Hysteresis Cellulose‐Based Hydrogels for Strain Detecting

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Low‐hysteresis hydrogel with high cellulose content is prepared. The modified cellulose is prepared through a sequential periodate oxidation and borohydride reduction process. The hydrogel can be used as a strain sensor with a gauge factor of 1.1 in the 0%–300% sensing range.

A Large Magneto‐Optical Trap of Cadmium Atoms Loaded From a Cryogenic Buffer Gas Beam

open access: yesNatural Sciences, EarlyView.
We demonstrate laser cooling and trapping of cadmium atoms using deep‐ultraviolet light at 229 nm, capturing more than 1×107$1\times10^{7}$ atoms within 10 ms from a compact 5 cm Zeeman slower and cryogenic beam source. We achieve peak densities of 2.5×1011cm−3$2.5\times10^{11} \,\text{cm}^{-3}$ and phase‐space densities of 2×10−9$2\times10^{-9}$.

Impairments on the Construction of a Cosmic Neutrino Detector in a Romanian Salt Mine

open access: yesNatural Sciences, EarlyView.
The modulus of the transfer function of an antenna when boreholed in salt. With red are represented results from the Targu Ocna salt mine and with black‐from Slanic salt mine ABSTRACT Indirect cosmic neutrino detectors utilize dense media to enhance the likelihood of neutrino interactions within the detection volume.

Rheological Characterization of UV and Shear‐Induced Degradation of Poly(Ethylene Terephthalate): Linking Environmental and Processing Histories to Recyclability

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of PET degradation during environmental exposure (UV, air, water) and mechanical recycling (shear), highlighting the resulting effects on molecular weight and mechanical tensile performance. ABSTRACT Throughout its lifecycle, poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) undergoes significant degradation from long‐term ultraviolet (UV ...

Hydrogen‐Bond Mediated Structural Evolution and Mechano‐Optical Anisotropy During Drying and Uniaxial Stretching of Poly(Vinyl Alcohol) Films: Effect of Molecular Weight

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Morphological Evolution in stretched PVA films. ABSTRACT This study presents a systematic investigation of the structural and mechano‐optical evolution of 88% hydrolyzed poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) films from solution casting to uniaxial stretching. The effects of molecular weight, drying conditions, and deformation temperature were examined using real ...
