Measurement of plasma current in Tokamaks using an optical fibre reflectometry technique
An optical time-domain reflectometer sensitive to the polarization of light is proposed for the measurement of plasma current in the Tore Supra fusion reactor. The measurement principle relies on the Faraday effect i.e.

Magnetic linear birefringence measurements using pulsed fields [PDF]
In this paper we present the realization of further steps towards the measurement of the magnetic birefringence of the vacuum using pulsed fields. After describing our experiment, we report the calibration of our apparatus using nitrogen gas and we discuss the precision of our measurement giving a detailed error budget.

The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers as Soft Actuators
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) can be actuated via electromechanical, electrochemical, or electrothermal effects. a) Electromechanical effects include Maxwell stress, electrostriction, and the electroclinic effect. b) Electrochemical effects arise from electrode redox reactions.

Spatially Tailorable Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Alignment During Digital Light Process 3D Printing
Here, we report the fabrication of 3D printable liquid crystalline elastomer (LCE) structures with spatially tailorable alignment domains within the same layer. This work addresses the long‐standing challenge of preparing complex 3D LCE architectures with patterned functional domains to achieve nonlinear deformations. Fabrication of multi‐domains in 3D

Chiral SURMOFs for Vibrational Circular Dichroism: Multiscale Modeling and Experimental Insights
The use of solid‐state vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) for MOFs is still somewhat unexplored, and in this work, it is shown that chiral surface‐anchored MOFs (SURMOFs) grown on CaF2 provide an excellent platform for VCD. Experimental results are validated through multiscale modeling, showing strong agreement across multiple spectroscopic ...

Pullulan, a biomass‐derived polysaccharide, is transformed into transparent optical fibers using a solvent‐free borax hydrogel‐spinning method. The fibers outperform PMMA with ≈200 MPa tensile strength and 200 °C stability, while uniquely guiding visible‐to‐NIR light and enabling additive‐free humidity sensing.
