Measurement of Auroral Birkeland Currents
Results are presented for measurements of the auroral current made with a rocket-borne experiment over Fort Churchill, Canada, during the February-May period in 1968. On the upward leg of the rocket flight there were detected a westward auroral current of 10,000 A near 96 km altitude and two oppositely directed Birkeland currents of about 0.00005 A per

A framework for in‐stream jams formed by snow avalanche‐delivered large wood
Large wood delivered by avalanches organizes into blanket or transport jam complexes.Jam complexes increase channel width and promote pool and bar formation. Avalanche frequency and magnitude, which are dependent on hillslope angle and roughness characteristics, controls jam complex type.

Model Validation of M‐I Coupling in SWMF
Abstract The accurate modeling of field‐aligned currents (FAC) and electron precipitation is critical for understanding magnetosphere‐ionosphere coupling and improving space weather predictions. This study evaluates the performance of the SWMF in replicating observed FAC magnitudes and distributions, as well as electron precipitation during storms and ...

Seasonal dependence of large‐scale Birkeland currents
The seasonal dependence of large‐scale Birkeland currents has been determined from the analysis of vector magnetic field data acquired by the TRIAD satellite in the northern hemisphere. Statistical characteristics of single sheet (i.e., net currents) and double sheet Birkeland currents were determined from 555 TRIAD passes during the summer, and 408 ...

Temporal and Spatial Development of Global Birkeland Currents [PDF]
AbstractThe development of large‐scale Birkeland currents is examined using the Active Magnetosphere and Planetary Electrodynamics Response Experiment (AMPERE), which measures global Birkeland currents continuously on 10‐min time scales. The integrated current was used to identify onsets of at least 1 MA preceded by periods of quiescence lasting at ...

Abstract A polar cap patch was observed to exit the polar cap to become a blob as it entered the auroral oval on the nightside of the Earth under moderately quiet geomagnetic conditions (Kp = 3−). Auroral particle precipitation led to an increase in the electron density of the blob.

Techniques to Detect and Quantify the Bacterial Metalloprotease AprX in Bovine Milk: A Review
ABSTRACT The heat‐stable metalloprotease AprX, secreted by psychrotrophic Pseudomonas spp., is a major cause of quality deterioration in dairy products, particularly ultrahigh temperature (UHT) milk. This review synthesizes the evolution and current state of detection and quantification techniques for AprX in bovine milk, covering traditional ...

Early Childhood Teachers' Perceptions of Risky Play: A Scoping Review
ABSTRACT Risky play, which involves thrilling, exciting activities with the risk of physical injury, has been associated with some crucial developmental consequences in the physical, social and emotional domains of children. Despite the fact that a number of studies have managed to provide insight into how early childhood teachers perceive risky play ...

Defining Transition and Transition Success: Perspectives From Different Stakeholders
ABSTRACT Background Although research has identified that the transition to adulthood for young persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities is not linear, little is known about how young persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, parents, and teachers conceptualise transition, particularly successful transition. The focus of
