Effect of Bisoprolol on the Level of Dabigatran

American Journal of Therapeutics, 2020
Background: Many patients receiving dabigatran treatment might also require bisoprolol therapy. However, there is a possibility that bisoprolol as significant P-glycoprotein inhibitor might interact with dabigatran. Study Question: To investigate the impact of concomitant bisoprolol

Electrophysiological effects of bisoprolol

European Heart Journal, 1987
The aim of this study was the electrophysiological evaluation of bisoprolol, a new highly cardioselective beta blocker, void of intrinsic sympathomimetic activity and without significant membrane stabilizing action. 10 patients (4 males and 6 females, mean age 67.5 years) with cardiac arrhythmias or syncopes of undetermined origin underwent His bundle ...

Bisoprolol for congestive heart failure

Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2008
beta-Blockers are a cornerstone in the treatment of systolic heart failure treatment, but not all beta-blockers are effective or in this setting. To define the role of bisoprolol, a highly selective beta(1)-antagonist in congestive heart failure due to systolic dysfunction.Using the keywords 'bisoprolol' and 'heart failure' PubMed and BIOSIS databases ...

Population Pharmacokinetic Analysis of Bisoprolol

Clinical Pharmacokinetics, 1989
The technique of population pharmacokinetic analysis was employed to study the variability in the dose concentration relationship of bisoprolol during its clinical development. The influence of demographic factors on the variability of clearance was investigated in 3 different populations: group I, patients (including an elderly group) with essential ...

Interaction of bisoprolol with cimetidine and rifampicin

European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1986
In 6 healthy volunteers the pharmacokinetics of bisoprolol under steady-state conditions was investigated over three consecutive phases: over 7 days of 10 mg of bisoprolol once daily per os, 7 days of 10 mg of bisoprolol once daily plus 400 mg of cimetidine t.i.d.

Bisoprolol Pilot Studies in Myocardial Infarction

Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1990
The efficacy of beta-blockade after myocardial infarction (MI) has been investigated in a series of studies. When beta-blockers are used during the first hours after the onset of MI, a reduction in infarct size, mortality, and nonfatal reinfarction may occur.

Effects of bisoprolol on local vascular resistance

European Heart Journal, 1987
Changes in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, arterial blood flow and vascular resistance in the arm and in the leg were investigated in 9 healthy volunteers (22-40 years) after oral dosing with bisoprolol 10 mg, propranolol 40 mg, and placebo in a randomized double-blind cross-over study.

Prediction of the Effect of Bisoprolol in Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy, 2000
Survival improvement by beta-blocker treatment in patients with chronic heart failure appears to be related to the intermediate-term changes in left ventricular function. The therapeutic potential of beta blockade might be increased by early identification of patients in whom left ventricular function would deteriorate.

Pharmacokinetics and Metabolism of Bisoprolol Enantiomers in Humans

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1998
The plasma concentrations and urinary excretions of bisoprolol enantiomers in four Japanese male healthy volunteers after a single oral administration of 20 mg of racemic bisoprolol were evaluated. The AUC(infinity) and elimination half-life of (S)-(-)-bisoprolol were slightly larger than those of (R)-(+)-bisoprolol in all subjects.

Bisoprolol‐induced thrombocytopenia: A case report

Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, 2017
Thrombocytopenia, not associated with bone marrow primary disease, is a common clinical problem. The possibility of drug-induced thrombocytopenia must be considered, especially in hospitalized patients. Drugs can cause thrombocytopenia by several mechanisms including direct bone marrow or other organ toxicity, and immune reactions. We describe a patient
