Beyond Traditional Phenolics: Disulfide Bonds for Performance Enhancement of Aerospace Ablation‐Resistant Materials from Processing to Recycling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The dynamic disulfide bonds facilitated the development of high‐performance aerospace ablation‐resistant materials. At moderate temperature, the dissociation and recombination of disulfide bonds ensured excellent processability, mechanical properties, and recycling ability of phenolic resin; at high temperature, cleavage of disulfide bonds produced ...

Molecular‐Level Pore Engineering for Precise Separation via Active Solvent‐Mediated Interfacial Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that microemulsion solvents can actively template molecular‐level pores within selective layer during interfacial polymerization. By creating localized quasi‐homogeneous polymerization zones, the membrane achieved a 7.1‐fold enhancement in water permeance with increased selectivity.

Developing Highly Effective Nanoparticle mRNA Therapeutic for Pediatric Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis‑induced pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome suppresses FOXF1 in lung endothelial cells which causes life‐threatening lung damage. To counter this, researchers developed nanoparticles that specifically target these cells and deliver FOXF1 mRNA.

Bisphenols: Endocrine Disruptors and Their Impact on Fish: A Review

open access: yesFishes
Bisphenols (BPs), particularly bisphenol A (BPA) and its structural analogues, are synthetic compounds widely used in plastics and industrial materials. These substances are also recognised as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) due to their ability to

Comparison of the toxicokinetics of daidzein and bisphenol A in pregnant and non-pregnant DA/Han rats [PDF]

open access: yes
Potentially adverse human and environmental effects due to hormone mimicry of environmental estrogens are a matter of current concern. Environmental estrogens belong to the socalled endocrine active compounds (EAC) and may alter signalling processes of ...

Release of Bisphenol A from Food Can Lining upon Heating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Nine different food cans, packed with water, were heat-treated for 30 min at 80 or 100°C in order to elucidate the trends associated with the leaching of bisphenol A (BPA) from internal coatings. Low levels of BPA were detected in water from all unheated

Determination of phenolic compounds in river water with on-line coupling bisphenol A imprinted monolithic precolumn with high performance liquid chromatography

open access: yes, 2006
The bisphenol A (BPA) imprinted monolithic precolumn has been prepared by in situ polymerization using 4-vinylpyridine (4-VP) and ethylene dimethacrylate (EDMA) as functional monomer and cross-linker, respectively.

Transformative Masked Ortho‐Quinone Chemistry: From Direct Guaiacol Activation to Lignin‐Based Adhesives

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Renewable guaiacols are rapidly oxidized by phenyliodine(III)diacetate to masked ortho‐quinones, giving a new class of monomers that undergo selective Michael‐type polyaddition with multithiols to from thiol‐guaiacol connectivity‐bearing polymers. The activation applies to discrete monomers and directly to lignin, enabling two‐component adhesives that ...
