Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 73, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Bisphosphonate-related Osteonecrosis Of The Jaw: A Review Of The Literature

open access: yes, 2015
Bisphosphonates (BPs) are a class of drugs used to treat osteoporosis and malignant bone metastasis. BPs show high binding capacity to the bone matrix, especially in sites of active bone metabolism.

Endodontic therapy and Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw onset: a scoping review and expert opinion-based qualitative meta-synthesis

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Introduction Medication-related osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ) is a serious side effect of bone-modifying agents (BMAs), including bisphosphonates, denosumab, and antiangiogenic drugs.

A retrospective case series on bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw in 20 cats

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionThis retrospective study highlights the salient aspects of a series of feline patients affected with bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw. Though more commonly published in human literature, this presentation is rare in cats.

Imaging findings in bisphosphonate-induced osteonecrosis of the jaws

open access: yes, 2010
Background. Bisphosphonates are drugs used in the treatment of lytic bone metastases, multiple myeloma, hyper-calcemia of malignant origin, osteoporosis, and diseases such as Paget’s disease. Recently osteonecrosis of the jaw has been associated with the

Denosumab Offers Relatively Lower Initial Protection Against Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures in Treatment‐Naive Patients Compared With Zoledronate

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 120, Issue 1, Page 139-149, July 2026.
We compared the initial efficacy of denosumab (Dmab) and zoledronate (ZOL) in treatment‐naive patients with osteoporosis. This cohort study, based on TriNetX data, evaluated the risks of fractures and mortality using Kaplan–Meier survival analyses, with hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

Food and Medicine Homologous Plants in Osteoporosis: A Scoping Review of Preclinical Evidence

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Food and medicine homologous (FMH) plants and their bioactive compounds exhibit potential osteoprotective effects through multiple complementary mechanisms, including estrogen‐like signaling, attenuation of oxidative stress, modulation of the gut microbiota–bone axis, and regulation of autophagy.

Re-appraisal of dental clearance protocol before anti-resorptive agents for osteoporosis using the modified Delphi technique

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background Patients undergoing anti-resorptive agent (ARA) therapy are at risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). Although existing guidelines encourage dental clearance prior to the initiation of ARA therapy, details on risk ...

Quantitative ultrasound at the hand phalanges in patients with bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2015
Patients with bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (BRONJ) who received intravenous or oral bisphosphonates (BP) were selected for determination of their bone microarchitecture as a risk predictor of BRONJ development.
