Resonatorless optical bistability in transmission of thin semiconductor film
The optical bistability phenomenon in the steady-state light transmission by a thin semiconductor film is studied taking into account two-pulse two-photon excitation of biexcitons from the ground state of the crystal.

Perceptual Priors Update Contextual Feedback Processing in V1
Abstract Contextual information and prior knowledge facilitate perceptual processing, improving our recognition of even distorted or obstructed visual inputs. As a result, neuronal processing elicited by identical sensory inputs varies depending on the context in which we encounter those inputs.

Abstract figure legend Dose‐dependent effects of radiation on cardiac electrophysiology and arrhythmia susceptibility. At low radiation doses (left), increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) initiate an ROS–Ca2+ positive feedback loop involving calcium/calmodulin‐dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) activation, enhanced L‐type Ca2+ current (ICaL ...

Redox‐active guanidines, comprising guanidino‐functionalized aromatics (GFAs) and redox‐active urea azines (RAAs), are electron donors and strong Lewis and Brønsted bases that are used in several applications. They act as redox‐active ligands in bistable coordination compounds and as reagents in dehydrogenative coupling reactions and proton‐coupled ...

Abstract The northern Atlantic south of Greenland and Iceland is the only part of the world which has cooled significantly since the 19th Century both in the atmosphere and ocean. The oceanic cooling is widely assumed to be a result of reduced ocean heat transport into this region.

Impacts of Deforestation‐Driven Rainfall Reductions on Amazonia Forest Stability
Abstract The stability of Amazonian vegetation is strongly influenced by land–atmosphere feedbacks. It has been hypothesized that deforestation‐induced precipitation decline may lead to widespread forest decline across the entire basin. Using a moisture‐tracking model, we quantify how deforestation across South America alters downwind rainfall and ...
