Utilization of multiple read heads for TMR prediction and correction in bit-patterned media recording

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
This paper proposes a utilization of multiple read heads to predict and correct a track mis-registration (TMR) in bit-patterned media recording (BPMR) based on the readback signals.

Skew angle estimation and alleviation based multi-layer perceptron in V-shaped read-head array BPMR systems

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
The demand for a massive storage device has kept rising and it has led to the emergence of advanced technology with a vast storage capacity. Achieving this idea might bring some obstacles called two-dimensional interference as well as a skew angle (SA ...

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Fabrication of bit patterned media using templated two-phase growth

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2017
In fabricating high areal density magnetic nanostructures for bit patterned magnetic recording media, conventional lithography methods are limited in scaling and often present other challenges, for instance, as etch-damage in case of subtractive schemes.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Iterative Decoding for High-Density Bit-Patterned Media Recording

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2012
AbstractBit-patterned media recording (BPMR) is one of the promising techniques to be used to achieve the areal density beyond the super-paramagnetic limit. Nonetheless, the BPMR system is normally encountered both inter-symbol interference and inter-track interference, especially at high recording densities. This problem is regarded as one of the most

On Capacity Formulation With Stationary Inputs and Application to a Bit-Patterned Media Recording Channel Model [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2015
In this correspondence, we illustrate among other things the use of the stationarity property of the set of capacity-achieving inputs in capacity calculations. In particular, as a case study, we consider a bit-patterned media recording channel model and formulate new lower and upper bounds on its capacity that yield improvements over existing results ...
