Bit Error Probability in the Presence of Passive Intermodulation

IEEE Communications Letters, 2012
In this work two modulated signals are transmitted through a passive component with nonlinear properties, which is modeled as generators of Passive Intermodulation (PIM) products. Such a channel is described as nonlinear. In the first stage of the receiver an Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) is added as a receiver noise.

Low power FSK detection at low probability bit- errors

2008 International Conference on Electronic Design, 2008
For portable deep space communications applications where low power is a key requirement At the receiver, non coherent FSK quadrature detectors is suitable that enable to develop novel design and digitally implemented as VLSI circuits An important consideration in an FSK low power receiver is whether to use coherent detection or non coherent detection.

Bit error probability for coherent M-ary PSK systems

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1991
A simple technique for evaluating the bit-error probability of coherent M-ary phase-shift keying (PSK) with any bit-mapping is proposed. Closed-form expressions are given in terms of error functions for half- and quadrant-plane probabilities in the decision space, avoiding the numerical evaluation of complicated integrals that occurs in the direct ...

On bit-error probability of a concatenated coding scheme

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1997
Summary: This paper presents a method for evaluating the bit-error probability of a concatenated coding system for BPSK transmission over the AWGN channel. In the concatenated system, a linear binary block code is used as the inner code and is decoded with the soft-decision maximum likelihood decoding, and a maximum distance separable code (or its ...

Bit Error Probability for MMSE Receiver in GFDM Systems

IEEE Communications Letters, 2018
In this letter, we consider the minimum mean-square error receiver for the generalized frequency division multiplexing system (GFDM) over frequency selective fading channels. We derive an approximate probability density function for the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio.

The exact transition probability and bit error probability of two-dimensional signaling

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2005
A new signal-space partitioning method is proposed for the calculation of transition probabilities of arbitrary two-dimensional (2-D) signaling with polygonal decision regions. This enables straightforward formulation of exact bit error probability, symbol error probability, mutual information (MI), and error probabilities of individual bits in the ...

Bit error rate estimation using probability density function estimators

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2003
The concept of real-time bit error rate (BER) estimation based on probability density function (PDF) estimators of the decision statistic is discussed. Communications systems need techniques to approximate real-time BER estimation without resorting to brute-force error counting methods.

Bit error probability of M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation

Vehicular Technology Conference Fall 2000. IEEE VTS Fall VTC2000. 52nd Vehicular Technology Conference (Cat. No.00CH37152), 2002
So far the general expression of bit error rate (BER) has not been derived for M-ary square quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). In this paper, a generalized closed-form BER expression of M-ary square QAM with Gray code bit mapping is derived and analyzed in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel.

Estimation of bit error probabilities using a priori information

Seamless Interconnection for Universal Services. Global Telecommunications Conference. GLOBECOM'99. (Cat. No.99CH37042), 2003
The coded data stream of today's powerful source codecs still contains residual redundancy. Due to the fact that coding is usually done frame by frame, this redundancy remains both inside a frame and also in a time correlation of successive frames. The redundancy should be used as a priori information at the receiver to improve the decoding result ...
