Bit Error Rate Testing Of Quadrant Photodetectors
SPIE Proceedings, 1989We evaluated candidate Quadrant Avalanche Photodiodes as optical communication receivers and optical acquisition/tracking receivers in a testbed which exercises both functions simultaneously.

Jitter Effects on Bit Error Rate Reexamined
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1981Standard references show the effects of carrier phase jitter on the performance of digital communications equipment as curves of bit error rate versus signal-to-noise ratio for constant values of jitter variance. In any real system, the variance consists of a relatively small constant component and a component which is inversely proportional to signal ...

Sequential Bayesian Bit Error Rate Measurement
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2004As bit error rates decrease, the time required to measure a bit error rate (BER) or perform a BER test (i.e., to determine that a particular communications device's BER is less than some acceptable limit) increases dramatically. One cause of long measurement times is the difficulty of deciding a priori how many bits to measure to establish the BER to ...

Class of Minimum Bit Error Rate Algorithms
The 9th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology, 2007A class of adaptive beamforming algorithms was proposed based on directly minimizing the bit-error rate (BER). The popular linear minimum bit error rate (MBER) stochastic beamforming algorithms suffer from low convergence speed and large training data.

Bit error rate in NAND Flash memories
2008 IEEE International Reliability Physics Symposium, 2008NAND flash memories have bit errors that are corrected by error-correction codes (ECC). We present raw error data from multi-level-cell devices from four manufacturers, identify the root-cause mechanisms, and estimate the resulting uncorrectable bit error rates (UBER). Write, retention, and read-disturb errors all contribute.

Bit error rate in digital azimuth recording
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1987Azimuth recording can reduce the side reading and thus allow a playback head wider than the track pitch to obtain a large tracking margin. Since the azimuth rejection is usually poor at long wavelength, it is preferred to employ a dc-free code to roll-off the long wavelength spectrum.

BIT ERROR RATE PERFORMANCE OF CASCADED OPTICAL AMPLIFIERS USING MATLAB COMPUTATION SOFTWARE
, 2013This paper gives a detailed presentation of the bit error rate (BER) performance of cascaded optical amplifiers with variation of amplified spontaneous emission noise in an optical network using Matlab files that models the transmission of an on-off ...

Convolutional Encoders to Minimize Bit‐Error‐Rate
European Transactions on Telecommunications, 2000AbstractThe results of a computer search for convolutional encoders for the binary symmetric channel and the additive white Gaussian noise channel are reported. Both feed‐forward and feedback encoders are considered. It is shown that, when bit error rate is the design criterion.

On the minimum bit-error rate of linear codes
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1995We investigate the bit-error rate (BER) of linear block codes. The BER is a function of the encoder realization of the code. We express the BER in terms of the weight profiles of the subspaces of the code. We also discuss the relation between the Hadamard transform and the BER. >
