Camouflage Treatment of a Severe Deep-Bite and Orthognathic Surgery Required Case with En Masse Retraction [PDF]

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Orthodontics, 2017
In adult patients with severe class II division 2 malocclusion, the ideal treatment option is the orthognathic surgery. However, camouflage therapy is also an acceptable treatment option due to its less traumatic and acceptable esthetic and functional results. In this case report, the camouflage treatment with two maxillary premolar extractions in a 21-

Ingestive behavior and dry matter intake of dairy cattle grazing Kikuyu grass (Cenchrus clandestinus) pastures

open access: yesTropical Grasslands-Forrajes Tropicales, 2022
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of animal characteristics, grazing management, and supplementation on ingestive behavior and dry matter intake (DMI) of Kikuyu grass in lactating cows.

Intake and ingestive behavior of goats on marandu-grass pasture

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2015
The experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of Marandu-grass (Brachiaria brizantha) pasture height (30, 40, 50 and 60 cm) on the canopy structural traits and grazing behavior and forageingestion process by goats.

Biomechanics of the insect bite apparatus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
In this thesis, I investigate the morphology and biomechanics of the insect bite apparatus using polymorphous leaf-cutter ants as study organism. I first quantify the key morphological determinants of bite force and discuss the spatial constraints of ...

Bite count rates in free-living individuals: new insights from a portable sensor

open access: yesBMC Nutrition, 2018
Background Conclusions regarding bite count rates and body mass index (BMI) in free-living populations have primarily relied on self-report. The objective of this exploratory study was to compare the relationship between BMI and bite counts measured by a

Mass spectrometry in snake venom research

open access: yesActa Biologica Slovenica, 2022
Mass spectrometry allows rapid and reliable identification and characterisation of proteins and peptides in snake venoms. With the increasing availability of transcriptomic and genomic data, there is a growing database of protein sequences that is ...

Increased searching and handling effort in tall swards lead to a Type IV functional response in small grazing herbivores

open access: yes, 2011
Understanding the functional response of species is important in comprehending the species’ population dynamics and the functioning of multi-species assemblages. A Type II functional response, where instantaneous intake rate increases asymptotically with

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.
