Eikenella Corrodens in Human Bites

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1978
Eikenella corrodens, a gram negative rod, was cultured in about one third of 24 patients with human bite wounds. The organism was sensitive to penicillin but not to methicillin. Clinically the infections in which Eikenella corrodens were found were not different from other infections.

Human bite wounds.

Journal of emergency nursing, 1990
Because only those patients receiving treatment are included in a study, it is difficult to determine the true incidence of infection in human bite wounds. Many undoubtedly never receive treatment since patients normally are reluctant to appear in the emergency department as a result of embarrasing circumstances.
