Chitosan derived from shrimp shells (SSPCH) was used for the first time as a biological biopolymer to modify the properties of bitumen across high, medium, and low-temperature ranges. Therefore, physical tests (penetration, softening point, and ductility)

Electron‐beam irradiation of ground tire rubber (GTR) in water activates its surface through water‐radiolysis‐generated oxidants, without altering the rubber's internal structure. Incorporated into natural rubber compounds, the treatment improves the tensile strength by 30% and tear strength by 42% at low doses.

The UK Clean Air Act at 70: An interdisciplinary analysis of historical air quality change
2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the first UK Clean Air Act, a pivotal moment for air quality in modern British history. Previous narratives on this legislation have largely centred on pollution in London and monodisciplinary perspectives. This article integrates historical research with reconstructed estimates of PM2.5 concentrations to spotlight ...

Seismic Versus Sub‐Seismic Experimental Mirror‐Like Fault Surfaces in Bituminous Dolostones
Abstract Mirror‐like Surfaces (MSs) are ultra‐polished surfaces frequently found in exhumed seismogenic fault zones in carbonates. They form over a wide range of pressure‐temperature conditions and slip rates, from seismic (≈1 m/s) to sub‐seismic (≈0.1–100 μm/s), reflecting distinct phases of the seismic cycle.

Abstract Subsurface microbial ecosystems associated with hydrocarbon reservoirs are shaped by temperature, salinity, redox gradients, and fluid flow. However, the drivers of microbial activity and hydrocarbon biodegradation over geologic timescales remain poorly constrained.

While management in the oil sands typically focuses on the amount of habitat lost and looks to ‘spatial offsets’ of undisturbed habitat elsewhere as a solution, we demonstrate that both composition and spatial configuration must be considered on appropriate spatial scales when developing land‐use strategies in patchy ecosystems undergoing anthropogenic

The Unexpected Discovery of Paleocene? Coals in Outcrops Thought to Be Cambrian, Al Huqf, Oman
ABSTRACT Two brown organic deposits were encountered whilst investigating kaolinitic claystones thought to occur at the base of a Cambrian formation at outcrop. The age of these organic deposits is probably Paleocene from palynology. Organic petrography shows that they are subbituminous coals with some oil source potential.
