Effect of Nutraceutical Supplementation and Mediterranean Hypocaloric Diet on Calculated Steatosis Indices and Inflammation: Clinical and In Vitro Evidences

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 69, Issue 21, November 2025.
This retrospective study evaluated the effects of nutraceutical supplementation (NS) and a Mediterranean hypocaloric diet (MHD) in NAFLD patients. Forty‐five overweight/obese subjects followed MHD with or without NS. After 3 months, only the MHD + NS group showed significant improvements in liver steatosis indices and inflammation.

Constructive waterfalls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The excavation of valleys by waterfalls is one of the best known and most effective processes by which rivers cut down the surface of the earth. The influence of waterfalls is usually regarded as solely destructive, and as always helping to lower the ...

Inhibition of EZH2 Promotes Human Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation into Mesoderm by Reducing H3K27me3. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Mesoderm derived from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) is a major source of the mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) that can differentiate into osteoblasts and chondrocytes for tissue regeneration.

Real‐Time Monitoring of Atherosclerotic Plaque Using β‐Galactosidase‐Activated Photoacoustic Tomography

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 44, November 6, 2025.
Detecting Vascular Senescence: Novel Enzyme‐Responsive Photoacoustic Nanoprobes for Atherosclerotic Plaque Imaging. A lipid nanoprobe is developed that detects senescence‐associated β‐galactosidase in plaques via enzyme‐triggered spectral shifts. This platform enables dynamic tracking of atherosclerotic progression, 3D visualization on the extent and ...

Questions and Answers about Oppositions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A general characterization of logical opposition is given in the present paper, where oppositions are defined by specific answers in an algebraic question-answer game. It is shown that opposition is essentially a semantic relation of truth values between

Bivalent Inhibitor of the N-end Rule Pathway [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The N-end rule relates the in vivo half-life of a protein to the identity of its N-terminal residue. Ubr1p, the recognition (E3) component of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae N-end rule pathway, contains at least two substrate-binding sites.

Neurofilament Light Chain Levels, Skeletal Muscle Loss, and Nutritional Decline: Key Prognostic Factors in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, Volume 72, Issue 1, Page 49-55, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Hypermetabolism and weight loss are established negative prognostic factors in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). However, the role of individualized body composition parameters in predicting ALS progression has been underexplored. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between nutritional parameters, neurofilament

BIVA: A Very Deep Hierarchy of Latent Variables for Generative Modeling

open access: yes, 2019
With the introduction of the variational autoencoder (VAE), probabilistic latent variable models have received renewed attention as powerful generative models. However, their performance in terms of test likelihood and quality of generated samples has been surpassed by autoregressive models without stochastic units.

Previous short‐term disuse dictates muscle gene expression and physiological adaptations to subsequent resistance exercise

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 603, Issue 13, Page 3725-3753, 1 July 2025.
Abstract figure legend Eleven young healthy males underwent 10 days of unilateral lower limb suspension (ULLS) followed by a 21 day period of active recovery (AR) using resistance exercise performed three times a week at 70% of the one repetition maximum (1RM), equating to a total of nine training sessions.

Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis in obese and overweight children.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
IntroductionBMI is the most commonly used indicator to evaluate overweight and obesity, but it cannot distinguish changes in body composition. Over recent years, it has been demonstrated that bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a more accurate ...
