The digestive gland of Unionidae (Mollusca, Bivalvia,) collected in severely polluted area of the Neva Bay of the Gulf of Finland and in the relatively clean area of the Lake Ilmen is compared. State of this organ was shown to depend on rate of anthropogenic pollution.
