Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern Bivariate Moment Exponential Distribution and Its Inferences Based on Concomitants of Order Statistics

open access: yesStats, 2023
In this research, we design the Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern bivariate moment exponential distribution, a bivariate analogue of the moment exponential distribution, using the Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern approach.

New techniques for old bones: Morphometric and diffeomorphometric analysis of the bony labyrinth of the Reilingen and Ehringsdorf Neandertals

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Neandertals are known to possess very distinctive traits in their bony labyrinth morphology, such as an inferiorly positioned posterior canal and a very low number of turns in the cochlea. Hence, the inner ear has been often used to assess the Neandertal status of fragmentary fossils.

A Bivariate Power Lindley Survival Distribution

open access: yesMathematics
We introduce and investigate the properties of new families of univariate and bivariate distributions based on the survival function of the Lindley distribution.

Bivariate unit-Birnbaum-Saunders distribution

open access: yes, 2023
ilustracionesLa distribución Unitaria Birnbaum Saunders (UBS), [Mazucheli et al., 2018a], tiene soporte en el intervalo (0,1), motivo por el cual se emplea con éxito en el modelamiento de tasas e indicadores.

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

Bivariate Power-Skew-Elliptical Distribution

open access: yes, 2020
In this article, we introduce a power-skew-elliptical (PSE) distribution in the bivariate setting. The new bivariate model arises in the context of conditionally specified distributions.

Pelvic morphology and body size in relation to the preauricular sulcus: Evidence from medieval to modern Iberia

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The preauricular sulcus has long been debated as a pelvic feature variably attributed to obstetric stress, ligamentous traction, and broader biomechanical processes. To clarify its determinants, we analyzed 409 adult individuals from three archeological and one early modern skeletal collection from the Iberian Peninsula, integrating graded ...

Born this way: Does variation in perinatal limb bone morphology predict adult locomotor repertoire in primates?

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Primates show a high degree of locomotor diversity that engenders similar variance in limb bone cross‐sectional geometry and bending strength: leaping primates have stronger hindlimb bones whereas suspensory species have stronger forelimb bones.

Bivariate Burr X Generator of Distributions: Properties and Estimation Methods with Applications to Complete and Type-II Censored Samples

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
Burr proposed twelve different forms of cumulative distribution functions for modeling data. Among those twelve distribution functions is the Burr X distribution.

The fossil record stays silent: Confusions and conundrums for hominin pelvis evolution

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The evolution of the hominin pelvis is commonly modeled as a series of stages driven largely by the requirements of bipedal locomotion, reproduction, thermoregulation, and pelvic floor muscular support. These patterns are complicated by variation in canal dimensions in relationship with different changes in overall pelvic breadths. To quantify
