3D Large‐Scale Subwavelength‐Resolution Sound Sheet Tomography Based on an Active and Programmable Circular Meta‐Array

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable 2048‐element circular ultrasound array combined with a compact acoustic lens produces a thin “sound sheet” over a large field of view, and records echoes with wide angular diversity across the ring aperture. Coherence‐enhanced beamforming converts full‐matrix data into high‐contrast tomographic slices, delivering near‐diffraction‐limited

Method for Calculating the Coral Health Index (Case Study: Mapur Island, Bintan, Indonesia) [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
This study evaluates the health and condition of coral reefs in the Mapur Island - Bintan Conservation Area, located in the Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. The research was conducted at 5 site locations using the Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) method,

Assessing mesophotic coral ecosystems inside and outside a Caribbean marine protected area [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2018
Widespread shallow coral reef loss has led to calls for more holistic approaches to coral reef management, requiring inclusion of ecosystems interacting with shallow coral reefs in management plans.

Prevalensi Penyakit Karang di Pulau Menjangan Besar Karimunjawa

open access: yesJurnal Kelautan Tropis, 2022
Coral disease can cause coral damage on Menjangan Besar Island, Karimunjawa. Floating net cages adjacent to coral reefs can affect coral health. Floating net cages can affect water quality by adding nutrients, such as nitrate (205.6 and phosphate 39.2 ...

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

Deep-sea Coral Taxonomy Workshop, Colombia 2019 [PDF]

open access: yesResearch Ideas and Outcomes, 2020
Corals are some of the conspicuous taxa in deep-sea ecosystems. Yet, characterizing coral diversity is difficult and requires a combination of both morphological and genetic data.

Decoupling Chemical and Mechanical Contributions to Capacity Fading in Ni‐Rich Cathodes for Sulfide‐Based All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Ni‐rich cathodes in sulfide‐based ASSBs undergo intertwined (electro)chemical and mechanical degradation. Here, a new diagnostic framework is presented to decouple each contribution by partitioning capacity fading into charge and discharge fading.

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Unveiling the early evolution of black corals

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Black corals, primarily deep-sea cnidarians (Anthozoa: Antipatharia), are inferred to have originated either in the Ediacaran or Cambrian based on molecular clock estimates. However, only the fossil family Sinopathidae, comprising Sinopathes and Sterictopathes, from the Early Ordovician of Hubei, China, has been recorded in the fossil record.

Pre‐Curved Everting Robots With Embedded Steering Intelligence Fabricated by CO2 Laser Welding

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Design and experimental demonstration of a laser welded growing robot for anatomically guided navigation. The robot follows an aortic arch phantom entering the branchiocephalic branch through steering by design. The figure shows the physical phantom setup, CAD defined weld geometry and full robot eversion.
