ENAA Studies of pollution in anoxic Black Sea sediments

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2009
The vertical distributions of five potential pollutants - Zn, As, Br, Sn, and Sb - were determined via epithermal neutron activation in the upper 50cm of unconsolidated sediments from the Black Sea, which were collected 600m below sea surface. This analysis demonstrated increasing concentrations towards the upper limits of sediments, which were greater

Comprehensive studies in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov in the Summer of 2012

Oceanology, 2013
The shelf zones of the Black Sea, Taman Bay, and the Sea of Azov are currently subjected to gross load related to the impact of invasive species, large-scale construction activities near the coast, intensive recreation activity, water pollution in large cities and ports, active navigation, unreasonable coastal arrangement, and dam construction. Another

Sea response to atmospheric variability. Model study for the Black Sea

Journal of Marine Systems, 1995
Abstract A general circulation model for the Black Sea, based on the Bryan and Cox primitive equation model, is used to study the sea's response to atmospheric variability. The forcing is based on well-known bulk-formulas, model simulated sea surface temperatures and on atmospheric analysis data for temperature, relative humidity and winds.

Detection of RGNNV genotype betanodavirus in the Black Sea and monitoring studies

Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2021
Viral nervous necrosis (VNN), caused by betanodavirus, is a significant viral infection that threatens marine aquaculture. Freshwater and marine fish farms in Turkey are subjected to annual pathogen screenings. In 2016, during the Nervous Necrosis Virus screening program conducted in the Black Sea, betanodavirus was unexpectedly detected using real ...

RECENT STUDIES ON SOURCES AND SINKS OF METHANE IN THE BLACK SEA

2006
This study focuses on the influence of gas seepage on methane sources and sinks, aerobic and anaerobic oxidation of methane and the mediating microbial organisms in the Black Sea. We present data from two cruises that took place in 2001 and 2003. Seven stations (two from the shelf, four from the upper and lower slope, and one from the central basin ...
