Long‐term changes in stream water chemistry in small forested watersheds in the northern Kanto region

open access: yesEcological Research, EarlyView.
This study compiled the results of three investigations of stream water quality conducted over a span of 30 years in approximately 40 small forested watersheds in the northern Kanto region. The cation concentrations remained relatively constant, while an overall decrease in the anion concentration was observed.

Evaluation of hydrocarbon source rock potential: Deep marine shales of Belaga Formation of Late Cretaceous-Late Eocene, Sarawak, Malaysia

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Science, 2021
In the Sibu-Tatau region of Sarawak, the Belaga Formation (Late Cretaceous- Late Eocene turbidites) is interpreted in relation to a submarine fan model deposited in the extinct ocean basin of the proto-South China Sea.

Study on Geochemical Characteristics of Rare Earth Elements of Xinhua Phosphate Rocks in the Upper Yangtze, South China by ICP-MS/AES and Its Sedimentology Implications

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2015
Xinhua phosphorus is a sedimentary phosphate deposit in China with strong REEs enrichment. In this study, Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES) as well as rock-mineral ...

The Toarcian black shale event in northern Italy

open access: yesOrganic Geochemistry, 1988
Abstract During the Early Toarcian (Jurassic; c . 192 Ma), organic-rich sediments were deposited in many areas of Europe. This paper reports the major findings of the first part of an organic geochemical investigation of the Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event (OAE).

Disentangling Timing Uncertainty of Event‐Driven Connectedness Among Oil‐Based Energy Commodities

open access: yesAustralian Economic Review, EarlyView.
Abstract Reported news events frequently influence the pricing dynamics of oil‐based commodities. We analyse almost 900 oil‐related events from 1987 to 2022, categorising them based on recurring characteristics. We quantify dynamic connectedness among energy commodities and apply a novel bootstrap‐after‐bootstrap testing procedure to identify 21 ...

Black shales – an unconventional source of noble metals and rhenium

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института
The content of noble metals and rhenium in the Lower Paleozoic black shales of the eastern Baltic paleobasin in Russia was estimated. Shales are enriched in platinoids (PGM to 0.12 g/t) and rhenium (to 1.54 g/t).

CALCAREOUS NANNOFOSSIL DISTRIBUTION IN PELAGIC RHYTHMIC SEDIMENTS (APTIAN-ALBIAN PIOBBICO CORE, CENTRAL ITALY)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2017
The Aptian-Albian Scisti a Fucoidi Formation from Central Italy represents a spectacular example of pelagic cyclic sedimentation. It consists of a varicolored sequence of marlstone, marly claystone, and marly limestone, with subordinate limestone ...

Effect of tillage method on early root growth of Miscanthus

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, EarlyView.
In‐situ, sub‐soil cameras were used to capture root growth and turnover during the establishment period for field‐grown Miscanthus planted with minimum tillage and no‐tillage methods. No tillage promoted higher root length density and thinner roots in the subsoil, providing potential for improved resource acquisition and soil carbon sequestration.

A reappraisal of the Italian record of the Cretaceous pachycormid fish Protosphyraena Leidy, 1857 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The genus Protosphyraena is known mainly from partial remains, consisting of isolated blade-like teeth, conical rostra and scythe-like pectoral fins. This paper provides a new insight into partial specimens of the genus Protosphyraena from the Cretaceous
