Black-grass (Alopecurus myosuroides, Huds.) is the most important herbicide-resistant weed in Europe. In Germany it is not only a problem in the maritime influenced areas like Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony anymore, as well in other regions black ...

Alopecurus myosuroides (blackgrass) is a problematic weed of Western European winter wheat and its success is largely due to widespread multiple-herbicide resistance. Previous analysis of F2 seed families derived from two distinct blackgrass populations exhibiting equivalent non-target site resistance (NTSR) phenotypes shows resistance is polygenic and

In planta analysis of the mode of action of cinmethylin and confirmation of fatty acyl‐ACP thioesterases (FATs) as primary site of action. Cinmethylin inhibits FATs, disrupting eukaryotic de novo lipid biosynthesis and causing defects in cell division, elongation and integrity. We confirm FATs as the primary site of action in planta.

The repetitive use of herbicides as major tool to control troublesome weeds in agriculture caused an increase in resistant weeds lately, especially when Integrated Weed Management principles were ignored.

Herbicide spring treatments for the control of brome grasses (Bromus spp.) in winter cereals
The efficacy of different ALS-inhibiting herbicides for the control of brome species (Bromus spp.) was tested in three field trials in the year 2010 – 2012 in the region of North-West-Bavaria Franken.

Graminicide resistance in a blackgrass (Alopecurus myosuroides) population correlates with insensitivity of acetyl‐CoA carboxylase [PDF]
ABSTRACTThe appearance of biotypes of the annual grass weed black‐grass (Alopecurus myosuroides L. Huds), which are resistant to certain graminicides, is the most significant example of acquired resistance to herbicides seen so far in European agriculture. An investigation was perfomed into the basis of the specific cross‐resistance to cyclohexanedione
