Bladder-Neck Sclerosis in Children
Urologia Internationalis, 2010We present our experience in 11 cases of bladder-neck sclerosis in children. The diagnosis was established by mictional ureterocystography. The therapeutic treatment involved opening of the bladder and incision of the back lip of the neck, at the same time performing Young’s Y–V plasty.

The procedure is easy to learn, is performed rapidly on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia if desired, and has minimal postoperative morbidity. Continued objective follow up is critical to define the long-term efficacy of this promising technique.

Summary— Thirty‐eight patients with bladder neck obstruction were treated by unilateral bladder neck incision. Good subjective and urodynamic results were obtained in 33 patients. Retrograde ejaculation occurred in 1 6% of the patients on recommencing sexual activity.

Bladder Neck Obstructions In Children
JAMA, 1964Two hundred eighty-five consecutive cases of bladder neck obstruction encountered over a four-year period were reviewed, including difficult cases of bladder neck dysfunction and nonobstructive ureteral reflux. The condition of 90% of the patients was improved and controlled by conservative means, ie, mainly urethral dilations and prolonged medication.
